A bright moon on a clear night is another example of God’s specific love. Like a bouquet of roses from a dear friend, kisses from God brighten my world. The same is true for you. The song that speaks to your heart, the beauty that captures your eye, the anonymous check in the mailbox, or the hug right when you need it—God will make his love real to you in a thousand different ways, all according to your specific wiring. First, ask him for eyes to see, then jot down the ways he shows you his presence.

I talk differently to God when I write to him. I end up addressing different things in different ways. I’m not sure why that is; I just know it to be true. If you’ve never written a prayer to God, take a portion of your journal and write out what’s on your mind in letter form. Watch what unfolds. Also, the wonderful thing about penning your heart to God is that you can look back and see how he has responded. Written prayers give us the chance to see that he truly does answer the cries of our hearts—even if it’s not always in our timing.

Nearly every time. I’ve tried to stop this involuntary intake, but it doesn’t seem to work. Some part of my brain sees brake lights and yells, “NOW! ” And I gasp. ” Not anymore. Now, I just laugh. I’ll even get dramatic and add a few playful comments to lighten things up. We all have our quirks. We can take ourselves too seriously and take quick offense, or we can laugh it off. I say laugh. I have no rhythm. I haven’t taken a single dancing lesson, and I don’t know that I ever will. Okay, wait.
